Crown Princess Sophia of Eastumbria has no choice, but to marry a man of high standing, if she wishes to succeed her father's throne one day. She has no desire to do, given the number of social climbers that want her crown for themselves, but she knows she must.
Prince Christian of Rothsby, third son of the King of Rothsby, is not ever going to become king. Not that he wants to ever. Despite this, there is pressure from his father that he marry, as he nearing his 25th year of life and seems to have no plans of his own to settle down.
Preferring to embark on a diplomatic mission to avoid the matchmaking schemes of his family, Prince Christian travels to Eastumbria to negotiate a treaty with the Eastumbrian King. However, when he meets the Crown Princess, he learns of the reluctant princess and her plight to see her married off to the highest bidder.
Feeling sympathetic to the troubles of the Crown Princess, Prince Christian agrees to help her find a worthy suitor, if only to prolong his return to his kingdom and the inevitable marriage he will most likely be trapped in.
Though the two are not friends, is it possible that the reluctant prince and crown princess find a way to set their differences aside in order for the needs of their kingdoms?
