I am Carreen, Princess from the house of Everild. My father, King Edmund, had made a pact with the neighbouring kingdom, the house of Aaromons. Before Prince Adair turns eighteen, he will marry me to unite both houses for a strong hold of the West.

When the time came to meet the Prince on the occasion of his seventeenth name day, I traveled, together with my lady-in-waiting, Liana, and a few knights to the castle that sits on the highest mountain top from all of Vetusdeur.

The Prince preceded a reputation of crudeness and ill-temperament. Hou-ever, upon my encounter with him, he was reserved and pleasant. The only probleme was, it was his frend and knight-in-training, Ryker who stirred my herte.

Please note that this will be closely written in Middle English, albeit not heavily, from the point of view of Princess Carreen. You will notice that some words might seem as a spelling error but they are deliberate according to the period of when the story took place. To distinguish, the Middle English spelling will be in italics (or at least I will try).

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, "The chronological boundaries of the Middle English period are not easy to define, and scholarly opinions vary. The dates that OED has settled on are 1150-1500. (Before 1150 being the Old English period, and after 1500 being the early modern English period.) In terms of 'external' history, Middle English is framed at its beginning by the after-effects of the Norman Conquest of 1066, and at its end by the arrival in Britain of printing (in 1476)..." In addition, its vocabulary shows "...many borrowings from French, Latin, and Scandinavian" words.
