If only this story were fiction, I would feel better in the telling of it. Marjorie suffers from a series of related, rare, but not obscure, conditions that affect hundreds of thousands of Americans and millions of people worldwide. The trouble of it is, is that Marjorie's doctors are stumped. And it took her 37 different appointments across the country to find a medical team that could properly diagnose her. Most of her symptoms are accounted for, but others remain questions marks that riddle her medical file. The diagnoses she has received present more questions than they do answers. This is because science has yet to catch up to these patients. There aren't enough of them to warrant biotech funding, major university endowments or charitable fundraising.
