I love the beginnings of stories. Whether it be a book or a movie, I enjoy the opening scenes the most. Because they hold all the promises of what is to come; unburdened by commitment or baggage. Beginnings are full of hope. This story is an exception. Because the beginning of it is a sad one. It's the ending, however, that makes this story worthwhile. Screw it. I picked up the bottle of whiskey and cashed it. I got into my car and drove until I saw a bridge. I look down at the ocean crashing below. My heart started racing, so I took a deep breath and I sat on the railing. I began to gaze at the full moon. A cold gust of wind blew across my face and made goosebumps form on my forearms. I finally felt at peace, calm and free but the sound of a speeding car behind me jolted me back to reality.
