Her mother is part of the forest guardians and got her training as a watcher due to how bad the bullying had gotten when she was younger. Ori is not used to having friends or people be genuinely kind to her, so when she befriends a faun and Lamia, she is confused and afraid that they'll stab her in the back like everyone else has.
