Ezra James, one of the most popular, best looking boys in school, is a shameless bully- picking and making targets of any person who causes slight inconvenience to his life. Nicolo Romano, the quiet theatre boy who had come to be known as the school twink -as dubbed by Ezra- becomes Ezra's latest target and quite a laughing stock, being picked on mainly because of his sexuality. Tomás Muñoz, Ezra's bestfriend since childhood, is also rather popular, most likely due to being Ezra's bestfriend- yet he is known to be the nicer one of the duo. Despite being so close since the age of four, Ezra was clueless to the fact that Tomás liked males, let alone that Tomás liked the boy that Ezra was bullying. And the closeted, queer boy comes to realise that his bestfriend is seemingly homophobic, so he proceeds to hide this secret of his for even longer. Until of course, time runs out, and he is outed by the boy he trusted the most.

When sixteen-year-old Andrew moves to a new state, he's used to blending into the background. Quiet, brutally honest, and carrying secrets he's too scared to share, Andrew expects high school to be the same torment he's always known. But everything changes when he meets Jaxson-a loud, passionate boy with a soft spot for broken things and a fire in his chest that won't die. Jaxson pulls Andrew into his small but tight-knit group: Elijah, the towering protector with green eyes and a guarded heart; and Cameron, thoughtful but distant, torn between affection and restraint. For the first time, Andrew feels seen. But he also feels vulnerable. As the group faces relentless bullying, the weight of personal traumas, and the confusing layers of sexuality, love, and pain, their friendships are tested. Jaxson fights for Andrew-literally and emotionally-but love isn't simple, especially when it's tangled in insecurity, jealousy, and the shadows of past hurt. When Andrew lashes out and walks away from the only people who cared, he spirals into bad choices and dangerous company, until he and Jaxson find their way back-this time with clarity, and no more pretending. A story of identity, brutal honesty, chosen family, and healing, Makeout in the Bathroom is an unflinching, deeply emotional journey through the chaos of teen life, and the quiet moments that make survival worth it.
