The Pottery Shard

Somewhere in the desert or even in a museum lie priceless splinters of incised pottery,. If reunited with the rest of the obelisk they might hold the clue to Humankind's origins and the tantalising hint of a way to eternal life. It is one of these that Zach is to return in deepest secrecy from the British Museum to the Museum in Damascus, in hope of deciphering ancient arcane knowledge. He is caught up in a camel train and rescued by his resourceful friend and mentor Angel who helps him through the dangers of a desert trek, an underground maze, the obstruction of a malicious Arab, and the deceit of their Controller.

This work of fiction is based on one of archaeology's intriguing mysteries, the extraordinary Sumerian King-list, which appears to attribute impossibly long life-spans to the rulers of ancient Mesopotamian cities.
