There are five known types of Avians in the world.
-Waterfowl Avians: Any bird with webbed feet is included in this category. Avians that have the wings of these birds can stay underwater for longer periods of time than anyone else.
-Corvid Avians: Birds under the Corvidae family encompass this category. This includes but is not limited to crows, ravens, jays, and magpies. Corvid Avians are believed to be the most clever of all avians.
-Songbird Avians: These Avians have the most varied wing colors. Their personalities are just as colorful. They seem to attract people to themselves wherever they go.
-Bird-of-Prey Avians: Owls, eagles, falcons, you name it. Bird-of-Prey Avians have enhanced strength. They are revered as powerful warriors.
-Mythical Avians: They're said to only appear once every few generations. Some believe they don't exist at all. Many say Mythical Avians are formed from trauma. (You guys know where this is going.)

[BxB] Life was pretty average for Culver Fleet, an 18-year-old certified couch potato slash pothead. He has spent every waking breath dodging responsibilities, until one fateful day he is swooped by a magpie and is... changed. He thought he just caught the bird flu, but then he started growing wings, like a budget avian Spiderman. Birdman? No. Birdboy. Well, at least until he and his friends actually agree on a real hero name. --- Culver Fleet is your average 18-year-old boy, who goes to university when he feels like it, which is essentially never. His days are spent lounging on his couch with his laptop on his stomach, sharing a joint with friends or dodging life's responsibilities. He does nothing and is nothing, but he has no problem with that. In fact, he enjoys it. No expectations, no responsibilities, no worries. But that all ends when Culver gets swooped by a magpie on a seemingly mundane trip to pick up some weed. A scratch and a peck, and suddenly he's growing wings and other avian attributes. A teenage boy is running from the law. A large bounty is over his head, and five Hunters are constantly chasing him, determined to get the money. It all changes when Dream gets wings. Now everything that he knew about life is upside down and twisted. As he is a magpie, his "bird-brain" takes over when he sees anything shiny, and he immediately wants it. It also pops up during great emotion, scattering his usual calm and cold reactions. His wings are tiny, not yet full grown, like they should have been because most avians are born with their wings. He doesn't know who he is, or what to call himself, and he no longer feels safe with the sudden new dangers around him, especially with his fresh wings to take care of. And now he is forced to play in a harsh competition of something like Minecraft where he has enemies from day one. At least he has Techno, his partner, who is only three years older than him, but he can't help but feel like the pink-winged avian could be a father. At least, until he realizes why that person wanted to protect him. And then he feels betrayed.Complete

Every Winged has a separate Clan that they can belong to. Some examples are the Eagle Clan, the Raven Clan, the Butterfly Clan, and the Crow Clan. The humans fear that the Winged will try to control the ground as well. But the Winged have no such plans, they are content to stay where they are, building a new lifestyle. Neither of those two boys seem very different from each other, both are kind, well-liked, and very handsome. Even if they aren't friends, you wouldn't expect them to dislike each other. Jace thinks Alec is a jackass know-it-all, and Alec thinks Jace is annoying and throws his personality in everyone's faces. Those seem like very small or petty things that they could easily overcome by having a conversation, but both are too stubborn for that. It is a mutual hate that neither will give up.
