A soft exhale escaped through the Heavenly Emperor's lips, helplessly staring into the endless void, whising the universe would, in it's infinite apathy, allow him to return into it's cold embrace, never to see the sunlight again. After the blink of an eye, he said, so softly it may as well have been an illusion: -Why did it have to be like this... Why did you have to be like this? The immortal didn't answer. He simply knelt, his head bowing to the ground in silent submission. -I have loved a man more than duty. Yet I do not carry the shame of regret. Forgive me, my Lord, for I have sinned. Between heaven and earth, mortals and immortals coexist in a delicate balance. But when the actions of the past become entangled, destiny becomes a labyrinth with no exit.
