Emily Lansing's disappearance left her family distraught and confused but her even stranger rescue left the local authorities with more questions than answers.

Jake Merrill thought he had left Hart's Ridge behind him for good, but when his life in the city falls apart he returns to the only place he ever felt safe. Instead of safety, however, Jake finds himself catapulted into the middle of a police investigation, when he discovers a young woman on the roadside, battered and bruised with no memory of her kidnapping or her captors.

As Emily and Jake struggle to put together the pieces of her broken memory, Emily has no way of knowing that the people who took her aren't done with her yet. With time running out, she'll need to put together the pieces of her past to save her future.
