The year is 2120, and the world has been ravaged by nuclear war between NATO and the JEDC (Joint Eastern Defense Coalition), comprised of Russia, China, and North Korea.
The war started in 2034. At first it was going smoothly. Then Setback after Setback, turned what was going to be quick and decisive win... into 86 long years of hell.
Then the Nukes came, back and forth for five years, until nothing was left.
We today thank NATO and the JEDC for using only non-radioactive bombs, as none of us would be alive, 22 years later.
My name is Matthew Willis, or Sabre 1-2 of the 71st NATO Shock Group, this is my story.

My Glide On Death
The year was 2098. I was a spacecraft and jet pilot during an era of relative peace. No robotic apocalypses, no zombie outbreaks, no meteor showers-nothing of the sort. Humanity had even established a presence on Mars. Yet, beneath this calm, a sinister force was thriving on the Red Planet. Whispers of a terrorist organization began circulating, hidden within the colonies. Now, they have completely seized Mars for their own dark motives. This group, The Mars Philanthropics (MP), had a name steeped in irony. They claimed to be "lovers of mankind," but in reality, they were far from benevolent. Their so-called charitable mission concealed a darker agenda. I wasn't a member of the military. Instead, I led my own organization-TAF (Terrorist Annihilator Force). Though small in size, we boasted the most seasoned and capable operatives. When the government realized the extent of MP's influence, they turned to us for help. This wasn't just another mission-it was a call to action against the most pervasive terrorist group in history. I'm regarded as the best spacecraft pilot, but this mission will challenge everything I've ever known. But now I face a choice more difficult than any before: let my friends-who are like a family for me-die or kill a family member who is nothing more than a stranger to me. Will I complete the mission? In 2034, the asteroid, 4486 Mithra is headed to Earth, now as a radioactive meteor, containing uranium. In a joint effort, to save the world from the threat of the meteor; the United States Space Force collaborates with NASA, Space X, JAXA and other big companies, to launch the NASA DART 2.0, to redirect and destroy Mithra. Cpt. Austin Moore, along with Lt. Col. James Bragg, and 2d Lt. Julia Walker, take refuge in an experimental cryogenic chamber, at the Armed Forces HQ in Arlington County, Virginia. However, the massive impact of the meteor is so powerful, that despite redirection, explodes huge, which causes the radioactive rock, to burn everything within a one hundred-mile radius, destroying the facility, and leaving Aaron and his team to be presumed dead. Forty-two years later, now in 2076, Austin along with James and Julia emerge from the now empty and inactive cryogenic pods, which kept them alive, and not aging at all. However, the world as they know it is in turmoil. With technology and machines becoming sentient, and taking over the world, most of the planet is now a dry and barren desert wasteland, with seventy-give percent of human population now extinct. Austin and his friends see, they are now pitted against strong malicious AI and evil machines, along with mutated former human creatures that succumbed to the gamma rays in the atmosphere. Along with acceleration in climate change, and technological progress, humans are now reduced to smaller settlements to survive and battle for resources. The Observer
The following extract is of the first three chapters of my book. Set against the backdrop of a hypothetical global nuclear conflict at the beginning of the 1980s, The Observer follows Dennis, a member of the UK Royal Observer Corp, a military voluntary civil defence organisation whose wartime job was to monitor nuclear explosions and gather data for fallout predictions. With war imminent as the Soviets and the USA battle in the Middle East, the story opens a few days before hostilities break out and with the UK descending into chaos as marshal law, road blocks and riots dominate the landscape. Between shifts in his bunker, Dennis battles with life in pre-war Britain as well as a conflict of opinion with a wife who is determined that family should come before duty. Lost in the regret of boredom and estrangement from his brother and now deceased father, Dennis disagrees. The terrifying screech of the sirens sound as the world is plunged into nuclear war. Now Dennis fulfils his duty alongside his two companions, logging explosions within their vicinity. Disillusioned by the reality of war, his companions protest as Dennis reports every explosion to Group Control until it too is destroyed, leaving them with no further role to fulfil. Each person now faces their own demons as they wait for the fallout to clear. Dennis in particular has to fight his history of childhood failure. One month later Dennis emerges alone from the bunker, riddled with guilt as to why he abandoned his wife and child at such a critical time. Determined to find his family, Dennis travels across the ravaged countryside. He returns to his village to find it has been evacuated and with evidence that even this far from the cities the effect of blasts has left its mark.Complete

His home was in a small town that was populated by no more than 30 people, and nearby was a cryogenics testing facility in the form of a vault. The company that owned it, Vault-Tec, was a government-funded organisation that worked to find ways to preserve human life in the case of global disaster: environmental, nuclear, or otherwise. Due to Y/N's service history, he was allowed into the vault during the nuclear warhead exchange between America and China, and that's where our story starts.
