Ingrid Cruryn, a powerful, nineteen, and more than beautiful daughter of a noble's had a relatively easy life. Her father was not the kindest man, but her best friend - Lexie - always made sure Ingrid had something to look forward to when she woke up in the morning. But when Ingrid's life is practically flipped upside down, the Prince turns out to be nothing but cold, and a particular girl in red seems to be catching her eye, how could that even be possible?

Lexie, an ill nineteen year old servant girl, was content with her life. But when the only person who had ever given her a second glance leaves for the Queen's Trials without an explanation, everything seemingly crashes down upon her. As her handlers figure out Lexie is sick, she gets kicked out and placed upon the streets, her only hope being seeking refuge at the palace - where the Queen's Trials were taking place. But how could a girl so small survive in a place like that? Much less with an annoying prince, prejudices against her powerless form, and having to watch her best friend slowly leave her?
