Pallu, at seventeen, is exhausted from training as a warrior and as one of the Queen's elite White Guard, a group of telekinetics who protect the kingdom from evil mages. Already, she has traveled and battled more than most grown men. What she needs is a holiday, but naturally that holiday can't go without the king's being assassinated, her father nearly dying, her own life being threatened, and oh, she can suddenly hear a voice in her head. So much for holidays. Pallu returns home to meet this voice who turns out to be Rumah, a young woman who shares an uncanny resemblance to Pallu.
