After the Death of Sati, Śiva did meditation for many years and observed his own spirit by means of his Self. 
He entered the region on the border of the Himalayas.
He was attended upon by the sages.
 He became characterized by the quality of being indifferent to the mutually opposed pairs.
Adi Shakti,  After abandoning her body of Sati, she took rebirth as the daughter of the Himalayas.
