Aang has been missing for years. 10 to be exact, ever since he was 14. No one on earth knows how his best friend, Katara, had been able to handle it all this time without him. No one. Because they used to do everything together- they practically had the same life. 

Before he disappeared, he told her he loved her. 

She never got to say it back. 

And she can't stop blaming herself. 

So what happens when one day, Katara, a dance major, is dancing in her garage, and all of a sudden she hears clapping? She turns around and finds him. And all of a sudden, she can't breathe. She can't think. All she can do is watch him looking at her, smiling and clapping.

Heimat: a place that you can call home; a sense of belongingness, acceptance, safety and connection to homeland A decade has passed after the final battle between the Avatar and the Fire Nation, a decade after the defeat of their Fire Lord. It is a time of prosperity for most, but the crimes commited during the war couldn't be reversed. Benders were taken away from their families, people were slaughtered, their belongings, homes and land taken away. This, had been the instance when it came to the northwest part of the Earth Kingdom, that had went on to become the Fire Nation colonies. The people of the Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom lived on in the land that was given to them and gradually, they became one. They collaborated and cooperated in order to live and so they got richer, learnt to depend on each other for their survival. By the end of the war, the people, even though they came from different backgrounds, were one. A decade after the end of the war, the Avatar is commanded to solve the matter of whether the former Fire Nation citizens need to move or not. Aang believes the nations need to be separated. The people in the colonies do not, hatred starts to grow in their hearts. The Avarar will need the help of a companion more than any other time, and there is no better person to aid him than the secret waterbender that's part of the Fire Nation fleet, the woman who risked her own life to get him to safety, even though this had been the first time they had met in their lives. NOTE: Any characters that do not appear in Avatar: The Last Airbender belong to me. The atla universe belongs to the creators.

The war ended 6 years ago. It's been two years since Zuko and Katara have seen each other. The Gaang tries to see each other as much as possible, but as time goes on, it gets harder. This story takes place after the war has settled. Aang and Katara finally together, Zuko the firelord, Sokka being,...well Sokka, Toph happy and never to return home, and the nations were finally at peace. When team Avatar decides to return to the southern water tribe to visit Sokka and Katara's family, they end up bringing Zuko along, giving him a well deserved break of running the fire nation. However, feelings start to make themselves known. Feelings that Aang doesn't like, little does he know he ends up pushing Katara into the arms of the edgy firebender, which was the last thing he was trying to do. Will this new romantic relationship tear team Avatar apart? Will it make them stronger? Will Katara's new found heated relationship be accepted by her tribe? Can the group move past it, and continue on? Will Aang ever get over Katara and find someone new? Knowing it's never easy ridding the feeling of that first love. And one of the most importance will Zuko find his mother? On a different note Azula, the sister of the new firelord, has been in prison for quite some time, there is obviously no way of her being released on good behavior. She plans to escape and find Tai Lee and Mai and "ask" them once again to join her side and take her revenge on her brother Zuko, Katara, their friends, and the Avatar. And plans to overthrow and take over the fire nation, feeling that her father apparently wasn't strong enough to hold his place.

enemies, to friends, to lovers. ______________ hi there. so, this is modern. they still have bending, ba sing se is a place etc. it's just like ATLA except with technology i guess? not sure how to explain it. but we've got zukka because im in love with it, kataang and then.. toph. but there is not firelord stuff or anything like that. i'm editing this 3 chapters in because it followed the plot line better LMAO suki died. i haven't put too much research into when she died, but i'm gonna say this is like a year or so after the last episode of atla. they need to be aged up LMAO sokka is 17, zuko 18. katara 16 and for the sake of the plot aang is also 16. toph is 15. mature content warning. minimal swearing if y'all care LMAO. its slow burn and a lot of beating around the bush. they don't wanna admit anything and sokkas just overall afraid to love again after every woman or girl he's loved has died in some form. minus katara and toph. zukos head over heels you could say, he's realizing what affection really feels like. so this leaves him questioning
