Before they were under attack, escape from that horrible place and saved by B.P.R.D. Gianna went to Professor Broom, asks for help and confirmed she was pregnant with Cortex's (Amphibian man) child, twins.

When her twins were born at Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense facility. They then placed her, two boys and Cortex in a secret facility run by Ben Daimio. From there, Gianna was allowed to raise the child in private at the cost of everyone believing she disappeared or dead. For few years of living peacefully, Gianna and Cortex raised their two boys, Ben and Tom on their own.

Then there was unexpected, most shocking, undisturbed from someone or anyone else from the outside, are watching them and how they both been raising their sons in secret without anyone knowing. But they were wrong.
