It all started on fifteen-year-old boy Koko'um Odett's home island, Inubis. On the night that he and his younger sister, Nola, came home from their mother's orders to get groceries, they were stopped in their tracks by a group of thugs led by a mysterious half-masked man. Koko'um had assistance taking the thugs down, encountering his first friend, Juniper. But the masked man was nowhere to be found!

In exchange for Juniper's great deed, Koko'um assists Juniper in his quest to find something. When their adventure is over, and after meeting a new friend named Genie, and Koko'um returns to his cottage on the outskirts of town, something felt strange. That's when he noticed -- his mother and sister are gone!

"Pirates!" cried the man, running towards him from the inner square of town. Koko'um's heart began to race and there wasn't another thought on his mind. "I'm going to get my family back." He shouted, marching towards the shore with nothing more than a backpack on his shoulders. He felt a hand be placed on his back, "Oi-! You don't think we'd just let you go alone, did you?" Juniper kindly smiled next to Genie. Koko'um grinned confidently.

"So do you have an ultimate goal?" Koko'um smiled, clenching his fist shut in determination.

"A dream that gives you the drive to get up every morning?" Genie giggles as she finishes tying her green bandana around her hair.

"And the endurance to fight through any obstacles in your way, no matter what?" Tohma tilted his head slightly with a small smirk tugging at one corner of his lip, placing his Great Sword against the back of his neck.

Koko'um chuckles, "Then climb aboard! We've always got room for more friends...!"
