The Breach

Walls, hundreds of feet high, consumed with ivy and erosion, surround the city of Burke. These walls have been here for as long as anyone can remember; anyone alive that is, and no one knows why they were built. It's been years upon years, and everyone who was there to see the walls' creation kept the reasoning a secret. Soon, they died off and everyone was left in the dark.

Alina was never allowed outside the walls, let alone close to them nor was anyone else. They were obveously built for a reason, and that reason could mean certain death. The was what Alina's mother told her on the daily. But what if whatever it was that the walls are keeping out is gone? What if we are confining ourselves to this city for no reason? She has to know more, but will her curiosity be the downfall of the nation, or will it lead to a better world?
