Thrown into the darker side of Ancient Greece, Annabeth fights to uncover secret plots created on the sea, along with the help of a mysterious boy. He claims to be a deckhand, but Annabeth thinks otherwise.

Their adventure takes them to many kingdoms of many gods, as they form alliances and realize that what looked like a small band of pirates, is so much bigger. As the god's powers grow weaker, Annabeth learns she was not the only thing the pirates captured.
