Kieran O'Day. He was the USMNT's only hope for most years of his international career but couldn't manage to bring the team to a high enough level. As he continues to play towards the end of his career he keeps playing at the highest level possible. Then injury hits. His body will take longer to heal than if it was one of his younger teammates. He leaves the Premier League to play in the MLS for the first time in his career to help him get back from injury. He signs with the New England Revolution (Sporting KC is better) to start a new chapter in his career, not knowing that he is starting a new chapter in his life.

"Are you sure you're okay, sweetie?" she asks. I take the ice pack back. I nod, but it hurts. My brain feels jostled by the littlest movements. "Yeah," I gasp, holding in any acknowledgment of pain. "I'm fine. Thanks." She glances down, and I catch her eyeing my bruised shins. They took the brunt of the impact. "Football," I explain. She nods. "That's a rough sport," she says. A pause. She walks back to her desk. Then, she stops. She turns around. She looks me in the eyes. Her face is solemn. "Hit 'em harder," she instructs. I nod and almost smile. "I will." *********************************************** It's 1998, and seventeen-year-old Stephanie "Stevie" Rogers is attempting the unthinkable: she wants to be the first female football player at Truman High. Too bad the team, headed by her ex and a sexist coach, won't let it happen. Then of course there's her sexist step-dad, who can't know she's playing football or her life as she knows it would end. If it weren't for her cute guitar-playing best friend, Calvin, all hope might be lost. But with his help, and the discovery of a secret so scandalous it could rock the entire school, she may finally get her time under the stadium lights. *************************************************************************** "You're outnumbered. You need allies if you're gonna survive the season. These guys are gonna have your back. You need them." "I don't need anyone," I insist. "Ha," he hiccups. "Yes, actually, you do." He ploinks me on the nose. I scowl. "No one is invincible." I continue to scowl. He sighs. "Just trust me on this one. Okay?" My face softens a little. He's just trying to help. "Fine," I comply. "But don't expect me to smile about it." He grins. "That's too bad. You're pretty when you smile." "Shut up."

Home is hell, school is hell, life is hell. But what do I do when my whole world is tumbling down and breaking down to shits? I smile because that's how I cope and that's how I show people I'm strong. People like Samuel O'Connell who I despise and who despises me. People like Samuel O'Connell who was my world and my life but now is just an addition to the many reasons why I'm miserable. People like Samuel O'Connell who can't stay away from me or leave me alone. 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐔𝐄𝐋 𝐎'𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐋𝐋 Yeah so maybe I'm an asshole who's whole life revolves around Cecilia Adams... even though I hate her guts. She's spoilt, has life easy, and the epitome of my problems. She just thinks she's better than everyone; just look at her. The way she smiles, the way she laughs, the way she talks, her sharp tongue, everything. I can't stay away from her or leave her alone and it's fucking with my head. ~ [HIGHLY UNEDITED] TW: ABUSE, SA ~ 50k reads - ✔️ 100k reads - ✔️ 150k reads - ✔️ 200k reads - ✔️ 250k reads - ✔️ 300k reads - ✔️ 350k reads - ✔️ 400k reads - 1k votes - ✔️ 2k votes - ✔️ 3k votes - ✔️ 4k votes - ✔️ 5k votes - ✔️ 6k reads - ✔️ 7k reads - ✔️

Former army combat medic, now an Emergency Medicine and Critical Care resident, he doesn't fear blood, death, or chaos. What he fears-what he hates-is corruption in white coats. The system failed his little brother. It broke his trust. It broke his family. Now, he saves lives his way-ruthless, brilliant, unstoppable. Rules don't save people. He does. Then Dr. Tay Tawan Vihokratana walks in. Elegant. Calm. Too good to be real. A doctor who heals with his heart as much as his hands. Forced to restart his career after a messy divorce, Tay transfers from Dallas to Boston to outrun a scandal and a heartbreak that nearly destroyed him. He wants a quiet new beginning-but instead he finds New. They clash instantly-fire vs. water, instinct vs. logic. Tay follows rules. New breaks them. Tay believes in compassion. New believes in survival. They shouldn't work together. But medicine has other plans. In the ER, under flickering trauma bay lights, between beating hearts and code blues, they become something neither expected-partners. And maybe, something more dangerous: Hope. Trust. Love. But with hospital politics, dark secrets, jealous ex-lovers, and ghosts from New's past resurfacing, one truth becomes painfully clear- Saving others is easy. Saving yourself is the real fight.
