Sakura dies. Now, before all of you Sakura haters start cheering, she revives because why not, and gets a second chance. So, yes. This is the back to the past kind of story. I don't know, I started writing this spontaneously. So, lesson of the story? When you die, find some old man with a campfire to help you. It doesn't even matter if he has an obsession with fish. It's fine.
After all, when you're dead, logic kind of goes out the window. Not you mention, you're stuck in your own personal hell where you kind of just sit in the darkness and mull over your regrets. FUN! Not really.
Sakura Haruno had to find that out the hard way. (And she doesn't start a war in the process or do anything weird, YOU BANANAS.)

Sakura was tired. So very tired. And it's not even the type of tired you feel after a sleepless night. Or the type you feel after exercising. It's a deep rooted tired, that you feel in the very depths of your soul. That makes the seconds feel like minutes, the minutes feel like hours, the hours feel like days, and days feel like months. It's a type of tired that makes you wonder why you're still here. And the reason for this tiredness, is that Sakura simply cannot die. Well, she can die, but when she does, her life simply starts over. In her first life, she was a hopeless romantic, fallen head over heels for a certain Uchiha. In her second life, she was a confused scholar, searching for the reason of her rebirth. In her third life, she was a careless daredevil, showing no regard for her life. In her fourth life, she was moody, getting sick of this game. In her fifth life, she gave up hope, knowing that the process would always repeat itself. In her sixth life, she took a blade to herself, hoping to move on. She didn't. In her seventh life, she was a killer, a merciless assassin. Sakura's death happened as a result of her two teammates' fight to the death. Naruto's attempt to change Sasuke wasn't going as expected, and now they were about to kill each other with their final blow. Naruto's intention had been to let Sasuke win and pierce through his body. But Sakura witnessed this whole thing and jumped between. It was a sickening feeling. Seeing two of the most important people in her life trying to kill each other. It was terribly wrong. In the spur of the moment, she flickered between them and took on their blows. It was abrupt and so quick that it felt like a dream. Except the pain was real. But she knew one thing for sure. She would do it over and over again if she had to. Because she wanted to protect them. That was supposed to be the end. But then she's startled awake by their Academy teacher and finds that she's returned to her twelve year old self. A seventeen year old in a twelve year old's ody.
