The Hunger Games are merciless.

Every year, 24 tributes are chosen to fight to the death in an arena specially built by the game makers.

But these tributes aren't volunteers. Or adults. These tributes are between the ages of 12-18. And they're picked at random.

Panem is where this takes place. It's the name of the country that houses 12 districts and the Capitol.

The 12 districts supply items to the Capitol. They have different resources. But they also supply the tributes.

District citizens are seen as second-class. They're part of the force that rebelled against the Captiol's rule and now they are punished for it.

District 2 is considered one of the lucky few. It was one of the only districts to stay on the Capitol's side during the rebellion and is located near the big city.

The district's main purpose is masonry, training and supplying of peacekeepers, and weapons manufacturing. Because of this, 2 gets away with training its tributes for the games. They win almost every year.

But Jade Machry is different. She's not rich, she's not one of the great houses. Jade works in a weapons manufacturing warehouse. Her mother is desperately ill and the treatment is an expensive medication they can't afford.

So Jade does the unthinkable.

But what happens when the life of glamour she was promised doesn't turn out the way she expected? What will her fellow district 2 victors think?

And what happens when she meets another fiery victor? One that she can't ignore.

❝Who are you? Who 𝘢𝘮 I?❞ ✑✑✑✑ All tributes know when and how they get in the Arena. The Victor, however, never knows when or how they get out. Not until Claudius Templesmith announces their name and district to the entire nation. Once the tribute becomes a victor, they're taken out of the Arena. Only to eventually realise they never truly escaped. The nightmares, the cameras, the deals, nothing ever lets them forget. Their entire lives, they're reminded of what they did. The mask of luxury that covers their sleepless nights and destructive thoughts, is kept in place by the finest glue known to President Snow; a bit of hope mixed in the bowl of darkness and fear. There's but one problem with that mask. For it to work, the victor must have two essential things; haunting vivid memories and loved ones they would trade their lives to protect. One without the other is to no use. So when Olive Navin Cresta survives the 69th Hunger Games with no recollection of her time in the Arena, the mask gets destroyed before it's even placed. Please, don't forget, the odds are never in our favour. ✑✑✑✑✑✑✑✑✑ 𝕒𝕞𝕟𝕖𝕤𝕚𝕒𝕔 /𝕒𝕞ˈ𝕟𝕚ː𝕫ɪ𝕒𝕜/ 𝕟𝕠𝕦𝕟, '𝕒 𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕤𝕠𝕟 𝕖𝕩𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕟𝕔𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕒 𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕥𝕚𝕒𝕝 𝕠𝕣 𝕥𝕠𝕥𝕒𝕝 𝕝𝕠𝕤𝕤 𝕠𝕗 𝕞𝕖𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕪.' ✑✑✑✑✑✑✑✑✑ I DO NOT OWN THE HUNGER GAMES I only own my OC and part of her family. [SEQUEL TO 'BEHIND THOSE VIOLET EYES'] It is said that once one is crowned victor of the Hunger Games, they never have to return to the arena. Every twenty-five years, there is a change in the Games for that year only. These special years are called Quarter Quells... and for this year's Quell, the Capitol has created something beyond anyone's imagination. For the seventy-fifth annual Hunger Games, the tributes will be Reaped out of their District's own pool of victors... And only two can win if they are from the same District... Cyra Merison, Alia Fletson, Cato Demeir, and Gale Hawthorne are all Reaped back into the Games for another year to participate in the bloodbath. And this year, not all of them will have the odds in their favour. For Cyra, this year is especially horrific. Not only is she Reaped back into something she loathes, but is also forced to marry someone she hates under the power of President Frost. Alia, on the other hand, takes her Career training to a whole new level and proves to everyone she intends on winning. And with the 'sudden' death of head Gamemaker Seneca Crane, President Frost takes control of the Games this year. He makes it clear to all of Panem who his favourite tributes are... And if the citizens are smart, they will bet on them as well. The tributes will be forced to fight harder than ever if they wish to win. Because, in the end, only the strong will survive.

The country of Panem has been a dark place since the first rebellion years ago. Now, as punishment for their uprising, each year two female and two male tributes are sent into the arena to fight to the death in the Hunger Games, a bloodbath broadcasted for all of Panem. Cyra Merison, a fifteen year old girl from District Four has been an outcast since she was a child. With her fiery personality and bright violet eyes, she's never been part of the 'in' crowd. Not to mention, she's entirely against the Capitol in every way. Alia Fletson, a sixteen year old girl from District Two, has been training for the Hunger Games her entire life. Along with her best friend Cato Demeir, they make an unstoppable team. And then there's Gale Hawthorne. The poor boy from District Twelve, who has a secret that could change the course of a lifetime forever. When the four collide, rivalries are instantly formed, boundaries are crossed, and things seem to spiral out of control. But maybe this isn't for the worst. People can always come together in different ways, and come together to stand up for what is right. Everything happens for a reason, after all...
