After the airport goodbye, they never talked again. Carla was to scared to and wanted him evolve. And he did. He was in college to be a lawyer but dropped out. Him and Guzman own a restaurant with a illegal club underneath. They just wanted to feel young because they never could when they were actually young. And Carla is a successful businesswoman, she works very hard doing everything she can to succeed. 

So they meet again at a award show only Samuel gets rewarded instead of her and to add in on her envy, he works with her competitors.
