Once a year in Alabama. Orphans from the ages of 13 to 21 years of age, take a train ride to put there names on the servant list. Depending on the age the first class family's feel out a peace of paper and if your name name is picked. You're a servant for that family until your to sick or you die. However if you make to 21 you will be freed and your name will be removed from the list
Megan Smith is a 13 year old girl who lives in the upper class. Her mom Paola is good Doctor, she found the treatment for HIV, which Megan's big brother Preston caught and died from. Her dad runs the Government.Every year Megan her Mom and, her dad go to the servant ceremony they fill out a peace of paper, they end up choosing Dillon Parker. When they get back Home, Kieath explains the House rules and tells him 'If you beak one of the rules, you'll be put into the freezer. two days later Dillon runs away, he's caught and, put into the freezer, can Megan get him out
