Isolated for years, Australia has become a dystopia where one's opinion of cilantro determines the course of their life.

The citizens of Australia name themselves once they've tasted cilantro and decided if it tastes good, or like soap. But one young woman breaks tradition and proclaims the herb good, but soap-like. Her impulsive honest answer sets in motion a chain of events that causes her and others to question the division between cilantro lovers and haters, Australia's isolation, and even the rebel groups that try ceaselessly to free the citizens of Cilantro.

Maxine is an 18-year-old girl who is bored and lonely, living in California in the year 2351. She's always been fascinated with how humans used to live in houses, drive cars, and the fact that there used to be forests and parks everywhere. Now, after a war that nearly erased humanity, people are forced to live a strict, dull, communist lifestyle. Everyone seems okay with this way of life. Everyone except Maxine. Maxine had always been special; she was often able to predict events. How? She didn't exactly know...yet. When she starts having dreams about a tropical island where people live as they did in the 21st century, she meets the man of her dreams: literally. Her new boiling emotions bring her to wonder...what if it's a real place? When she starts her search for the island and bumps into Elis-the man in her dreams-she suddenly knows it wasn't all just a making of her imagination. Finding that island could mean finding the answers to her burning questions, and maybe even answers to questions she didn't know she had. However, not everything is what she thought it would be when she finally finds the island, and her dreams become a harsh reality. Elis turns out to be someone else, and when another man swoops in every time Maxine is in danger, she becomes confused about what love really is. The Advisors, the ten women governing the world, want to assimilate the people of the island, not knowing that those people have an extreme advantage over them. Maxine also learns that her family has been lying to her about who she really is. Ultimately, when the Advisors come to destroy the island, she must face the fact that she is the key to the island's salvation, and embracing her rapidly developing abilities is the only way to do so.

"As far back as I can remember, I've been surrounded by water. The salt in the air even now makes it hard to breath, forcing me to squint. Sand clings to every inch of me, caking my pants and shoes. The wind from the ocean picks my hair up, sending it blowing back towards the multi-colored houses lining the shore line. *** 'Quinn, don't panic,' Lexi says through gritted teeth. She holds fistfuls of my shirt now, and I hear the rubber soles of her shoes squeaking. 'Too late,' I whine, grabbing the barbed wire in a last desperate effort to regain some balance. The razor sharp blades cut into my palms, making me jump again. Lexi sucks in air and loses her grip on me. I hold my breath and close my eyes, feeling the wind cradle me from all sides as I fall at about twenty-four miles per hour, considering the height of the wall and my weight. Now, I wish I was surrounded by water." South of Compound 4, another compound exists. Within the wall of Compound 5, children are trained and tested for perfection through the Intelligence Exam, a test that every student takes during their sixteenth year. Pass, and you stay within the compound. Fail, and you are sent to another compound. It's common knowledge that they are building a perfect population to remain when the rest of the world falls to the Virus. Yet, what happens when Quinn faces the threat of Compound 5, a short blonde girl whose name he can't pronounce, and begins to question everything he's ever been taught, pushing the limits of the system and his own comfort zone? When a student receives the compound's first ever perfect IE score, a storm makes its way in from the ocean. Can Q unravel the secrets held within the walls, or will he lead his family and friends to a war they can't win against a woman who seems to be triumphing against all odds? Feeling trapped and alone in her marriage, Mia finds comfort in her house servant, Ruby. As they grow close, a forbidden love blossoms. Mia wants to flee her marriage and be with Ruby, but fear holds her back. If the government found out about her prohibited relationship, she and Ruby would be sentenced to death. She wants to find happiness, but not at such a high cost. Mia embarks on a journey of romance, betrayal, and rebellion as she tries to find her voice in a place where women were meant to be silent. © Dawn Norwell "Though I'd spent my entire life denying it, I could no longer live a lie. I didn't love my husband. I could never love him. After repressing it for so long, I finally accepted that I was gay. I had always been gay. And no number of threats or scare tactics from the government would change the fact that I would always be gay." _______________________________________________________________________________ "Horribly fascinating!" "Wow, this is so chilling. I can't wait to read more!" "There are ways in which the real world has treated women and homosexuals that mirrors what is happening here. I find it disgusting, intolerable - and that means stories like this need to exist." "This does a great job showing some seriously underrepresented issues in the world :)" #1 in future fantasy 2nd place in The Black and Gold Leaf Awards 3rd place in The Creativity Awards Warning- This story contains domestic violence and sexual assault.

"It's human nature. It's instinct to survive, no matter the cost." The world has fallen into desolation. The apocalypse has already started and finished, leaving some of the surviving ones with strange powers and mysterious scars. The world has ended, according to some, and is now in a state of rebirth. Others say it hasn't ended yet and that it's only going to get worse. The remaining people have grouped together in packs and gangs, raiding the desolate cities and avoiding the ones called the Destroyers, who capture and torture the remaining survivors. No one is safe. One fifteen year old boy knows this better than anyone. He and his older sister lived together, sticking to the dark alleys of their abandoned city, and survived for years after the apocalypse, until the Destroyers came and took her away, reigning terror on the few who remained in the city. The boy, desperate to find someone to help him save his sister, leaves the city and finds one of the youngest cooperative packs in North America, called the Raiders, comprised of unwanted individuals with the strange powers left from the destruction of years past. Their leader, a destructive insomniac, promises to help him in return for the skills and usefulness this young boy seems to possess, but something disrupting sends waves of unease through the Raiders, something about a forgotten past and talk of a mutiny. "Maybe there's more to life than just surviving." ... Rated C for Caution. Though it's rated mature, there is no bad language or vivid descriptions of sexual contact. It does have very strong themes. Please read the two important notices in the intro. Read at your own risk. Thanks. Rebecca Split (Sparks will fly) by Spinzhira
30 parts Complete
The planet is in trouble. The Sparkies are here and they haven't come in peace. They feed on decay, and will stop at nothing to satisfy their hunger. This is the biggest challenge since the extinction of the dinosaurs and a fight that Mother Nature cannot win by herself. A new kind of hero is needed and when the call comes, it is to one who is a little younger and a little more mischievous than expected. Rebecca is like every other fourteen year old. Her hobbies are sleeping, moaning, eating and searching for answers to the imponderable question 'Why is it always me?' She does have one unique attribute though: the voices in her head are real. Not only that, but they want to come out. Her toughest fight to that point had been an ongoing crisis with uncontrollable hair, but now she must put aside her teenage troubles and travel the length and breadth of New Zealand, to vanquish the enemy before it's too late. From the wine regions of the Wairarapa, the streets of Auckland and the seal sanctuary of Cape Palister, to the tranquillity of the Pacific Islands, Rebecca must travel to wherever the danger threatens because, whether it interferes with her homework or not, the future of our planet is in her hands. Rebecca shares her mind and body with three others: Ranga, a red haired conservationist with the fashion sense of an explosion in a paint factory; Psycho, a hard hitting martial arts expert, all adrenalin but more Goth than girl; and Boff, a braniac with an IQ to embarrass a roomful of university professors. With a little help from Oldag, (the living embodiment of Mother Nature,) some magic and an awful lot of luck, they'll face this enemy, share the occasional milkshake and hopefully be back at school before any of the teachers notice. There will be split nails, dodgy outfits and more than the occasional tantrum, but Rebecca and her split personalities will stand together as one, in a showdown that will determine the fate of the world as we know it.
