Even though Artemis swore to never love a man, she always wanted a child. A child of her own to love, to protect, to care for. So she decides to get a procedure so she didn't have to come in contact with a man. But the child turns out to be a male so she can't keep him. She gives her son to one of her retired hunters in hopes that she can return and collect him when he is older. Well, let's just say, things don't turn out as planned.
