Kara is a normal 17 year old girl, she lives in a house with her annoying parents and older brother. Her life is normal and there is peace at her house between her and her brother and their ongoing war. All is peaceful until her dad leaves after a fight with her mother, and dies in a car crash. Her mom starts going out more and more coming home drunker and drunker every night. Her older brother, James. turns 18 and leaves the house. He moves to south Carolina with his girlfriend, only to get murdered in a hotel an hours ride away from home. Her mom sells her to a 37 year old man to be his slave. Kara can't handle having no dad, no brother and a mother that doesn't want her so she runs away from the man and goes to her aunts house. In a hotel on the way their she sees an image of her mom on the news, dead, it says that she was murdered. Another image pops up and Kara sees that its her aunt and uncle, they were killed in a car crash like her dad. Unable to take it anymore Kara prepares to jump out of her hotel window. before she can she is pulled back in gagged and blindfolded, shoved into a limo and taken away.........

This story is not getting the attention it deserves, so I am attempting to "re-brand" it. Maybe no one "gets" it. If you want to read about "Normal" teenagers, maybe this isn't for you, it's more complicated than that. It's about a teenager who doesn't fit it, but doesn't want to, who has the best two friends that anyone could have. Who watched his father lose his job in the Recession and then loses his home, and how he copes, especially when he learns that their new house is haunted and the ghost is in his room. Michael was an average kid, although he's always stood out. He was a school jock but also a skater whose long blond hair almost reaches his waist. When his parents lived in a house in a home owners association like all his other friends, life seemed normal. Then his father lost his job and suddenly those "friends" weren't there anymore--except for his two best friends, Short Round and Dewey. The three are skaters, good ones, who live for girls and their skateboards. They're also basically good kids who take pride in being different without paying attention to it. When Michael loses his home and his family has to move they have his back. And they are there for him when the ghost girl starts following him around. Mariah was murdered when she was just 15, her remains were never found, although no one but her and her ghost friend, Crazy Girl, know where their bodies are buried. The house Michael now lives in is the one where she lived with her family, and her old room is now his. She appears to him one night, trying to taunt him, but against her will she is falling in love with the boy who lives in her old room.
