"Aha! I finally figured it out. I should pay you back for saving my life with a kiss."

Prince Rian starts walking toward me in long, fluid strides, closing the distance between us and making my heart flutter.

I stammer as I become lost in his tender gaze.

"T-There's no need, your highness. It is simply my duty to pro-"

"To protect me, I know. But a simple pat on the back can't express my gratitude for your chivalry, My Lady. Not..completely, anyway."

I try to keep my distance, but a rosebush blocks my path and I flatten myself against it. Prince Rian wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me against his solid body.

"Just admit it.." he leans closer, "you don't know much about men, and you happen to be very...curious."

My eyes flutter closed, and my breath catches as I anticipate what will happen next..
