It's a simple test. There's a large arena where all the orphans who have reached The Age, crowd around. Two by two, they are called up to fight. Whoever wins, passes the test. It's a fight to the death. And if the two orphans refuse to fight, both get culled. When Vriena Farryn takes this test, she's not like the others.
