poetry for the hearts tarnished by love or the sudden death of it. for the hearts that find a soft lullaby in the pages when raw hope is not enough to put the worries to sleep. for the hearts that bleed ink to paint the chalky roses of life red with words--you'll find my own ink here. and i hope you find a harlequin garden in my poetry. sweet lavender. daybreak lilies. sun-kissed dahlias. a poem for every emotion ripping at your soul, begging to be unleashed on paper.

this collection has several themes and ideas--find something you like. let's get lost in the tall fields of dawn's first breath and dandelion song, tucking flowers in the forests of our hair. let's get lost in the words and not in the world. for a moment, let your tarnished heart out of its cage, and hold it to your sleeve. wear it proudly as you read. just for a moment. to feel something and let it be shown. there is nothing shameful in having a heart that has dented-in chambers and rust. it has seen the salt cries of the ocean, the metronome kisses of summer rain, the moonlight tears that have dried into scars on cheeks. it's been corroded by the waters, tarnished. it is not afraid.

For every person out there that was quiet, not because they chose to be so, but because they were choking in the smoke. Because their opinions were apparently not worth anything. Because they didn't know just how to say what they felt. For every person that is consumed by their own thoughts, the derision from the outside world only making it worse. For every soul that was drowning in remorse and anguish on restless nights. For every soul that says I love you in the dark and in the mirror because no one else does. For the floors we would pace while anxiety sunk its teeth into us. For the mirrors that we would break while shame echoed its laugh in our caged walls. Cover made by the amazing @mikeyspizzadope (go check them out they're cool) It's 3 A.M., and you can't sleep. Your heart feels like it might burst out of your chest. Your ears are ringing, echoing in your brain, and everything hurts so badly. Your vision is going blurry as you try to fight back the tears, and you're wondering why you even try anymore. At one point or another, most of us have experienced the feeling of worthlessness, shame, or guilt. We feel like we're at rock bottom, and it seems like nothing will ever get any better no matter how hard we try. One thing we do know for sure, though, is that where there is dark, there is bound to be light, no matter how small that speck may be. There's always hope, no matter how far out of reach it may seem. There's always light in the dark. TW/CW: mentions of anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts. "I know that even when things seem dark and at rock bottom, there's always hope. There's always a light at the end of the tunnel.
