Saruto Hyuga, an orphan in Konoha village, finally gets an answer to his life-long question. The boy, harnessing powers of generations past, goes on an illegal journey outside his country to get more power and more answers when a long-time brewing war begins to finally boil over and start around him. Saruto-who took the news carelessly has actively converses with a former antagonist of Konoha who orally promises the boy an explanation as to why he's the last blood of three extinct clans, causing Saruto to indirectly participate in the war.
