"What do you call a fish wearing a bowtie?"
Instantly, Sawyer frowns, an unimpressed expression on his face. I continue to smile at him, grabbing his face, "Don't make that face!!! C'mon, you gotta ask!! What do you call a fish wearing a bowtie??"
He shakes his head, turning away. I let go of his face as he flatly asks, "We're not doing this shit, Mari."
"Yes we are!!!" I laugh as he scowls, "You ready?!!"
"No."
"I'm gonna say it."
"You better not-"
"SoFISHticated."
"You're a dumbass."

*Slow Burn, Lengthy Chapters, Long Story*
This Story Takes Place in 2023-2024
Marianne Parker and Sawyer Cortez are complete opposites of each other.
Marianne is a dad joke loving, talented musician who believes in finding the good in everything around her. Always smiling, laughing, kind to everyone, and an optimist. With a bubbly attitude and an outgoing personality, she's always looking to make a new friend. An all-around ray of sunshine.
Sawyer, on the other hand, is a sarcastic, blunt, rude, and pessimistic bookworm. He doesn't believe there could be good in everything. He doesn't smile, doesn't laugh, and isn't interested in making new friends. Let alone, socializing. Hell, he BARELY tolerates his own friends. The total definition of a raincloud.
Marianne's looking for a fresh start, and Sawyer wants a normal year of high school.
When he meets Marianne, it becomes all too clear that there's something about her he can't ignore. From the way she walks, talks, laughs, and smiles, it's all distracting and unfamiliar to him. And, of course, he doesn't like that.
In his efforts, he tries to ignore the feelings and avoid HER at all costs. But, that can be hard when the girl in question is EQUALLY interested in him too.
