In a world of monsters and death, caterans keep the worlds of monsters and humans apart.
Two such caterans stumble upon a little boy, orphaned after his parents are killed by monsters. They name the boy Doyle, unaware he is destined to become a legendary and formidable cateran.
Place in the care of the blacksmith Nate, Doyle endures a childhood devoid of love and is determined stop anyone from getting too close to him in case they die, When his mentor is killed in front of him, Doyle is saved by a young woman called Ophelia, who too would become a legendary cateran, who would become a source of anguish and happiness to him. As the begin a dance that would last their whole lives.
