Hades

A vacation on earth from the underworld sounded perfect. Like nothing could go wrong. I wasn't expecting much. I especially wasn't expecting to meet Persephone. The same Persephone I was told didn't exist for me, the same Persephone who was destined to be my wife and queen, the same Persephone who's the key to my rule in the underworld.
Nor was I expecting to save her life.
And the thing I was expecting least?
For her to be nothing but a goddamn mortal.

Persephone

Everything seems to be falling apart. My entire life.
I've lost my job, my parents are nowhere to be found, I'll be kicked out of my apartment soon, and I nearly died.
Nearly.
The last thing I would imagine happening to me is a handsome and mysteriously dark stranger saving my life. Begrudgingly. I have no doubt he would have let me die that day, but clearly, something told him not to.
I understand that he saved my life and I owe him or whatnot. But in no world does it make sense what he asks of me. Or tells me.

He's Hades. The Hades.
And he isn't a human. No, not at all. He's the real Hades.
The ruler of the underworld and my personal doom.

A goddess is taken to the underworld as the king's bride; her father knew everything and her mother knew nothing. In this retelling of the Hymn of Demeter, mother and daughter will do whatever it takes to free themselves, no matter the cost. Book I of The Triple Moons' Chronicles * Up in the sky, in a world between myths and lies, lives a daughter caged on an island. She is Persephone. The beautiful Persephone, whom every Olympian god wants to marry-they all want her beauty to conceal their ugliest secrets, but only Hades manages to take her to his realm. He dwells below the earth, across the river Styx, between Tartarus and the Isle of Blest. No mortals can see his forbidden land until they pass away. Forced into marriage by her father Zeus, Persephone would resign from her fate. But when her grieving mother, Demeter, comes close to killing all the mortals, Zeus orders her back to her homeland. Given and returned against her will, Persephone takes charge of her life and eats six pomegranate seeds before leaving. Food from the underworld can't be eaten as it will tie one to the land. As her decision pushes her closer together and apart from her loved ones, Persephone's destiny turns worse. Only she may have the power to change her world for the better. *** CW: While written in a lyrical style, this story is advised for mature audiences only. DIVINE - A Persephone And Hades Retelling by ebonyyclarke
47 parts Complete Mature
"I've told you, Hades, I can not become your mistress." she sadly told him. She had always lived in her mother's shadow, and if she followed Hades, she would once again be living in another's shadow. Even though she loved him, she did not think she could stomach it. "I do not want you to be my mistress, Persephone, I want you to be my queen," he confessed to her. She snapped her head up to meet his eyes, searching for any sign he wanted to take his words back, but there was no remorse. And just like that, she fell ever so slightly more in love with him. "Your queen?" she asked, she had to be sure. Strangely the word had slid off her tongue gracefully as if it had belonged there. "Yes, become my queen," he told her once again, taking back the step she had taken. "Rule besides me as the goddess of spring and the Underworld." The words don't seem to make sense in her mind. --- Further description in the book --- #1 - MYTH RETELLING (as of October 1st, 2021) #1 - GODDESS OF SPRING (as of Nov 23rd, 2021) #1 - HADES TOWN (as of Jan 13th, 2022) #1 - HADES AND PERSEPHONE (as of Feb 9th, 2022) #1 - GREEK MYTHOLOGY (as of March 29th, 2022) #1 - QUEEN OF THE UNDERWORLD (as of April 4th, 2022) #1 - PERSEPHONE AND HADES (as of April 20th, 2022) #1 - GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD (as of April 20th, 2022) #1 - KING OF THE UNDERWORLD (as of Dec 22, 2022) #2 - HECATE (as of Nov 4th, 2021) #2 - DEMETER (as of Jan 29th, 2022) #2 - KING AND QUEEN (as of Feb 21st, 2022) #2 - PERSEPHONE (as of Sep 20th, 2023) #3 - GREEK MYTH (as of May 6th, 2022) #4 - MYTH (as of April 21th, 2022) #4 - RETELLING (as of May 10th, 2022) #4 - UNDERWORLD (as of 26th, 2023) #6 - HADES (as of April 8th, 2022) #6 - DIVINE (as of May 6th, 2022) #41 - OLYMPIANS (as of Feb 9th, 2021) #55 - GREEK (as of May 8th, 2022) #61 - OLYMPUS (as of May 8th, 2022)

Hope for the Underworld

53 parts Complete

'In a single terrifying moment the heavens roared with a deafening crack of thunder, and the wind howled in a bone-chilling frenzy, as if someone was screaming in agony and unbearable anguish. In response, the earth recoiled in shock; the ground shook violently, jolting her off her feet. As the tremors intensified, a great chasm ripped open, devouring everything in its path and swallowing her in an instant. In a heartbeat, she plummeted into the shadowy abyss, consumed completely by the darkness. Then, the great void closed again, cutting off the sound of her terrified voice, leaving no trace of her presence there...' A retelling of the timeless love story of Hades and Persephone. Though some may argue it wasn't a love story at all... I disagree... Cover by AI Updated twice a week.
