Beyond the mortal realm, there is a world no human has ever seen; a world of magic, faeries with a host of different powers, all with one thing in common -- they are used to heal, help, and better the kingdom. Enter Alina Winters. Known as Alina Withers to those in her kingdom. She is known to be the only dark faery in the realm. Where faeries are meant to be helpful and kind creatures, ones who can defend and create and heal, overall morally right things, she was made for one thing-- decay and death. Or at least that's what she thinks. When a mysterious army attacks, seemingly possessing the same power as Alina, the faeries learn a startling truth. There are more faeries out there. More than could ever be comprehended. When a threat is posed to someone she cares about, Alina learns that her deadly power isn't the only one she possesses. She discovers she has another power, quite contradictory to the one she grew up with. No faery has ever had two powers. Alina is faced with many jarring truths and now she must navigate love, family, learning her new powers and what the world is really like, and doing it all while preparing to one day be queen.
