When Charlotte Russo was two years old, her father started abusing her. She tried to run away multiple times but she was always brought back. She tried to tell her teachers, doctors, and cops but no one believed her and her father continued to abuse her for years.

When she was twelve, her parents had twins and gave them to Charlotte to raise. She did everything parents were supposed to do. Everything her parents didn't do.

A year later, Charlotte feared that the twins would go through what she had been going through, so when her parents weren't home, she took the twins and ran away. She went to a diner and the owner's wife took pity on her so she gave her a job and got her a small cheap apartment in her brother's apartment building. Charlotte got two more jobs to help support them, one was as a housekeeper and the other was as a receptionist at Stark Industries. Charlotte put her siblings into daycare while she worked three jobs and she dropped out of school.

Another year passes and Tony Stark comes into the diner where she works, he takes an interest in this young girl when he strikes up a conversation with her and learns that she's taking care of her siblings by herself at only fourteen years of age. He offers to help her out but she declines, not wanting to rely on others as she hates depending on people when she has always been betrayed.

Tony doesn't take no for an answer, he comes to the diner every morning with the same offer. When Charlotte's brother ends up in the hospital and Charlotte doesn't have the money for his hospital bills, will she finally accept Tony Stark's offer? What happens when she meets the Tennessee boy known as Harley?
