The Last Ones Left
"I can't lose you like I've lost everyone else" I say, something inside of him clicks and his eyes turn angry "You have no idea what loss is" he says through clenched teeth. The tears in my eyes finally overflow and they fall down my cheeks faster than I want them to "Everyone that I have cared for has either died or left me" i pause and glare at him "Everyone-" I shove him back "-fucking except for you" I sob. He straightens and glares at me "So don't tell me that'd I'd be safer with someone else, because the truth is I'd just be more scared" my voice breaks at the end. ****** Ellie is an 18 year old girl who was born into the apocalypse, her and her best friend Riley get bit, they both freak out and don't know what to do. Riley dies not even a day later, but Ellie doesn't which confuses her. She goes to her mother's friend Marlene who helps her out by taking her to two smugglers, Joel and Tess, who are instructed to take her to a group of Fireflies who can reverse engineer a cure for the infected. Joel is in his late 40's, he was there when the apocalypse started and has suffered ever since, until he meets Ellie and his entire perspective on life changes. He finds that over time he begins to have feelings for Ellie, he wants to protect her and shelter her from this horrible life. Can Ellie and Joel save the world? What will happen on their adventure together? Firstly, A trigger warning for mental health/ self inflicted wounds when reading. you're only 18 years old. your name is zoe. you always had a love for the apocalypse but didn't think it would truly happen. and you slowly learn that nobody is who they say they are. Nobody is to be trusted. Things are gonna fall apart, and nobody can save us now. This book is being rewritten again and hopefully is better than the first and second time it was published. It's kind of cringe most of the way. Wrote it when i was like 13-14 years old or something and tried rewriting when I was about 16. Didn't work. Trying to rewrite it again at 20 but i don't think the first two books are saveable. Book three so far however is going well(i believe anyway). The second book has also been rewritten and will be rewritten again. now I'm working on finishing book three. All characters are mine but ellis is not I will be changing a lot of character names again in this rewriting process in all books, ellis being the biggest.Complete
