The Unknown Pain

Arthur hadn't seen Merlin's real smile in weeks. Maybe even months? Merlin had lost count of how long he had been faking smiles and how, now, the king must surely know that Merlin isn't himself. Right?

His hair is so pretty in this light... Thought Merlin, as he slowed his movements on the weapon and instead focused on Arthur. The sun was going down, so the orange light came in perfectly from the window behind the king and created some sort of halo around his head. Not just his hair. His cheekbones, his jaw... and his eyes. How are they so blue?
