When an almost fully infected person boards the train, the train is no longer safe, and neither are the passengers. When infection and few are left, they will try and all make it out alive. Who will actually make it out though? This book is loosely based on Train to Busan. It is set in the exact same time-zone, therefore you will notice, if you've seen the movie that is, that there are overlapping events. If you've also seen the prologue to Train to Busan, you will know they ended up getting Seoul under control, which is why it will be a safe zone, like Busan at the end of Train to Busan.
