Dean's father died to protect the King on a pilgrimage to receive the Goddess's blessing. Now Dean hears his father's voice in his dreams, calling him to his grave. The only way up is to pledge himself to the King, for the rest of his life. Castiel rules, his kingdom rent in half by a civil war his uncle started, and resents the need for a Lionheart. But the pilgrimage cannot be done without one. With whisperings of raids and gathering forces at the border of his split kingdom, and his own power dwindling, Castiel is pulled in all directions. Receiving the Goddess's blessing is more important now than it ever was.

You've spent your life as a lone hunter, quiet, guarded, and unwilling to trust anyone after what you've seen. Other hunters are reckless, angels are untrustworthy, and you've always believed you worked best alone. That changes the night you cross paths with the Winchester brothers...and the angel at their side. Dean and Sam slowly chip away at your walls, becoming the family you never thought you'd have, while Castiel, strange, unyielding, and endlessly kind, steals pieces of your heart before you realize what's happening. But when Castiel's life hangs in the balance, you make an impossible choice to save him. The angels question your loyalty, the Winchesters fight to keep you safe, and you're left facing a brutal truth: trusting others is dangerous, but loving Castiel might be the riskiest choice of all. Would you sacrifice your life, and maybe your soul, for the angel who taught you how to trust again?
