As far back as Delilah's memory reaches, she has grown up in that quaint cottage out in the middle of the woods. In the backyard lies an unkept rose garden to which she always seems to find her way, despite the thorn bushes that seem intent on keeping visitors away. At age 19, Delilah has few plans for her future, simply content living day by day along the roses with her father and the fairytales they have read together since she was but a child. With childlike obliviousness of the world outside the woods, the girl has grown up to tackle every shadow and mystery with the eagerness of the characters in their many shared stories. Delilah's life, however, takes a drastic turn one day as her father leaves for work with a few important parting words. "Deedly-dee, I'm leaving for a business trip. You'll have to take care of the house while I'm gone. We'll see each other in a month." For all her bravery and courage at taking on the unknown, this is a situation Delilah has never been thrown into before. Left alone in a home that seems to whisper secrets to her eager ears, what awaits the girl who already tiptoes along the line of reality and fantasy. And what is to keep her anchored in the real world when the shadows beckon and the only living person around her is away?
