Kamden had always felt... different. He wasn't sure if the feeling came from being the only kid in Midvale who was adopted or something else. All he knows is that something feels off. None of this is helped when Lena Luthor is determined to make his life a living hell at school. This all changes when someone new moves in across the street. Nia Nal opens many doors for the boy, exposing him to many things he hadn't known before. Many things that SHE hadn't know before. Nia just so happened to help Kare find a group of friends in the most unlikely of places. Lena had always had the idea of perfect drilled into her brain since a young age. Always being told Luthors must be perfect. She'd turn her nose at anything her mother and deemed imperfect, so it was easy for the girl to poke fun at Kamden. Her mother and casually mentioned how the fact he had been adopted by the Danvers wasn't normal. Wasn't perfect. It stung her a bit. Her mother hinting how she too could never be perfect due to that fact. So it was easier to just make fun of him. It made her feel better about herself no matter how messed up it sounds. So it was a confusing day when she suddenly found herself defending the younger Danvers from bullying rather than inflicting it. *** This is essentially the trans Kara Danvers high school au that I need in my life, so I'm writing it. Don't come at me. ⚠️TW: homophobia and bullying⚠️

Zora

Growing up is difficult. The body goes through changes. Hormones mess with you. Everyone gets bullied at one point by someone. For Zora, it was worse. Not only was she bullied at school, she was bullied at home, abused by her father. She was a disgrace in everyone's eyes. Constantly suffering, she needed something that would give her hope and make her feel good about herself. Though it caused her to be bullied even more, she didn't care. She would live her life out and proud as a woman, despite how everyone saw her as a man. Hope meant nothing to her until the day her father died, prompting her to move in with her mother and stepbrother in New York, away from her transphobic community in Georgia. But moving didn't mean everything would suddenly get better. Dealing with transphobic bullies and a stepbrother who doesn't understand who she is, Zora worried she'd always endure constant ridicule. But moving somewhere new could lead to better things, like an accepting mother, friends, and a boy who finds her to be the most beautiful girl alive. Change meant new things were going to come, and if the world wasn't going to change for her, she'd have to change it herself.
