The town of Cantabridge has been divided into two parts since the cursed fever hit the city and the battle took place. A mist keeps the monsters from escaping into the world of the good.
Beyond the mist lies 'Ville de tenebris' or the 'Town of darkness', the banished part of Cantabridge.
18 years after the battle, ten people are sent beyond the mist into ville de tenebris with an offer.
