He plunged the dagger into my side and I screamed in agony. He pulled it out and threw me on the ground increasing the pain even more. But it was nothing compared to the pain I felt of betrayal. "There you wanted her dead. I did it for you. Now you owe me." H/n spat. I saw shock and disgust on V/n face. Why? H/n did what he never managed to do. He did the job for him and V/n gets to walk away without blood on his hands. I struggled to get back on my feet. H/n started taking wide strides towards me to finish the job. I heard a gun cock behind me and he abruptly stopped "That's far enough. Walk away while you still can. Just because I owe you doesn't mean I can't owe you after I put a bullet trough your leg." V/n said with bitterness seeping from his voice. H/n huffed and walked out. I couldn't stand upright anymore. I collapsed but felt someone catch me. I saw his face. His features laced with something I never thought I'd see him look at me with. Concern and...fear. Ruling a kingdom is hard but it gets especially difficult with an assassin on your tail. In a kingdom where your closest friend turns out to be your enemy and an ally can be found in the person you'd least expect. Hiraeth has been assigned to eliminate the crown prince of the kingdom of Salvanear. The prince however is not going to go quietly. They play a game of cat and mouse and every time one spares the other. Neither of them knowing the reason why.

The blade of my hidden knife stops just a few centimetres from the prince's warm skin of his neck. He lays there, eyes closed and rhythmic breathing. His defined jaw relaxed and his teeth barely showing behind his pink lips. I hear voices coming from the hallway. I glance up at the door then back to the sleeping Prince. The door handle rattles, the guards yell from behind the wall. I bite my lip, balancing the blade just on the skin of the prince's neck. The door bursts open just as I slip out of the bedroom window into the cool midnight, no evidence of my attempt to assassinate the prince. ~~~~~~~~~~ Trained Assassin, skilled in over 4 martial arts, specialised in weaponry and one on one combat... And I couldn't kill the prince. So my question is, what stopped me? ____________________________________ "My chest literally hurts.
