After a protest at City Hall goes wrong, Luna, a Mexican-American high school student, is saved from being pushed into traffic by a boy named Briar. Sparks fly, bad humor is exchanged, and something about a zombie...but more than sparks ignite when she realizes Briar is the son of the racist, white-supremacist candidate for mayor. Briar's father is against her and her people. Briar and Luna's encounter sets off a sweet but tumultuous relationship. Meanwhile, she struggles with her parents' broken marriage and what it means for her identity. Luna is caught between love and hate, marriage and divorce, Mexican and American. Will hate decide who she is and how she loves? Or will she find something in-between?

When sixteen-year-old Andrew moves to a new state, he's used to blending into the background. Quiet, brutally honest, and carrying secrets he's too scared to share, Andrew expects high school to be the same torment he's always known. But everything changes when he meets Jaxson-a loud, passionate boy with a soft spot for broken things and a fire in his chest that won't die. Jaxson pulls Andrew into his small but tight-knit group: Elijah, the towering protector with green eyes and a guarded heart; and Cameron, thoughtful but distant, torn between affection and restraint. For the first time, Andrew feels seen. But he also feels vulnerable. As the group faces relentless bullying, the weight of personal traumas, and the confusing layers of sexuality, love, and pain, their friendships are tested. Jaxson fights for Andrew-literally and emotionally-but love isn't simple, especially when it's tangled in insecurity, jealousy, and the shadows of past hurt. When Andrew lashes out and walks away from the only people who cared, he spirals into bad choices and dangerous company, until he and Jaxson find their way back-this time with clarity, and no more pretending. A story of identity, brutal honesty, chosen family, and healing, Makeout in the Bathroom is an unflinching, deeply emotional journey through the chaos of teen life, and the quiet moments that make survival worth it.
