When investigative journalist Keiran Smith is assigned a last-chance feature on the mysterious "wolf" killings in Cherokee, North Carolina, she expects a straightforward survival story-locals, legends, and a few grisly headlines to save her fading career.

What she finds instead is a town haunted by something older than folklore, where disappearances blur the line between the human and the wild. The deeper Keiran digs, the more the story pulls her toward Waya, a man who carries secrets in his blood and gold in his eyes.

As violence and desire intertwine, Keiran discovers that the so-called wolf deaths are only the surface of a curse that binds the living to the ancient and the unseen. To uncover the truth, she must decide whether to expose the legend-or become part of it.
