Evaine wakes up in a vehicle. As she's trying to figure out what happened she gets rescued by Cian, the man with the tattoo under his eye.

For some odd reason, Evaine can't remember anything, "not even her damned name". Cian offers her to stay with him in the House of Angels and Demons, until she regains her memories, not knowing that Cian plays part in her memory loss. 

Cian continues the game of evilness and deceit, being that his life is at stake, while Evaine tries to fight through his manipulation and find out why it's so hard for Cian to love.
