"As far back as I can remember, I've been surrounded by water. The salt in the air even now makes it hard to breath, forcing me to squint. Sand clings to every inch of me, caking my pants and shoes. The wind from the ocean picks my hair up, sending it blowing back towards the multi-colored houses lining the shore line. *** 'Quinn, don't panic,' Lexi says through gritted teeth. She holds fistfuls of my shirt now, and I hear the rubber soles of her shoes squeaking. 'Too late,' I whine, grabbing the barbed wire in a last desperate effort to regain some balance. The razor sharp blades cut into my palms, making me jump again. Lexi sucks in air and loses her grip on me. I hold my breath and close my eyes, feeling the wind cradle me from all sides as I fall at about twenty-four miles per hour, considering the height of the wall and my weight. Now, I wish I was surrounded by water." South of Compound 4, another compound exists. Within the wall of Compound 5, children are trained and tested for perfection through the Intelligence Exam, a test that every student takes during their sixteenth year. Pass, and you stay within the compound. Fail, and you are sent to another compound. It's common knowledge that they are building a perfect population to remain when the rest of the world falls to the Virus. Yet, what happens when Quinn faces the threat of Compound 5, a short blonde girl whose name he can't pronounce, and begins to question everything he's ever been taught, pushing the limits of the system and his own comfort zone? When a student receives the compound's first ever perfect IE score, a storm makes its way in from the ocean. Can Q unravel the secrets held within the walls, or will he lead his family and friends to a war they can't win against a woman who seems to be triumphing against all odds? Selected is the sequel to Immune, found on my profile. Record Ranking: #25 in Science Fiction

It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. Just because we're living in a world where a disease can make the dead walk, doesn't mean that that disease is the only one we have to worry about. Junin2-one of the most deadliest diseases out there. We need the vaccine. Now that most doctors are dead and most medical equipment and knowledge is gone, we have to prepare for this disease as best we can. The only way we can do that, is get the vaccine. The only problem, the vaccine is locked away in a high security facility run by an AI. To get in, you must be registered as an employee of the company Xia-Hifa, the company that creates the vaccine. That is where I come in. Time is running out. Junin2 season is getting closer and closer. I have to get in there and get that vaccine before it kills us all in one of the most horrendous ways possible. It shouldn't be too hard-get my special T-shirt, do well on my performances, and get out. Should be okay, right? Wrong. A.N.N.I.E. is a lot smarter than we thought. Don't speak. Don't let it hear your voice. It will deceive you. It will hurt you. "You keep calling me 'it'. You wouldn't like being called 'it', would you?" Let me ask you this, what is your top priority? "Safe is an interesting concept." Mine is saving Abel, no the matter the cost. "Tagged you, Five. You're 'it'." Disclaimer-I do now own Zombies, Run! or its characters. I only own the characters I created on my own. This is my Five's version of the 2016 Virtual Race.

Cyberpunk Fantasy Ancient Hope // Tribulation : Singularity Cover art by: https://www.patrickennisart.com/ A story of 3 "sisters", from 3 different walks of life, growing together, with technology and compassion; through a shared crisis created by the worlds combined patriarchal religions, who's new leader is out for full spectrum domination. This near future unlocks the potentials of genetics and artificial intelligence in this science fantasy of a young girl and her father who discover how to create legendary creatures; which could cripple the automotive industry if they become the new standard of personal and public transportation. Meanwhile, her affluent mother continues an affair with a bishop who aspires to be pope. Ancient Hope // Tribulation : Singularity is meant to be a story that follows a pattern of exponential growth, much like the real technological singularity itself. You should also know that exponential curves begin so slowly, it almost looks like a straight line. So, please don't be surprised when the 2nd and 3rd parts, tribulation & singularity, are both, years later, and filled with many more characters. Special thanks to Ken Poirier, who has been encouraging me to be on this site for over a year now, or just finish my book in general for years longer. Upon seeing how Ken uses this site, and how he serialized Love and Hamburgers, I too intend to release my story in a serialized version of my completed story, here on Wattpad. This seems like a fun place to work on the last of my finishing touches. Further, the story needed to be altered slightly as well, as it's a story of the near future, where when it was written, had no thoughts of Covid-19. I'm not looking to alter the fundamental nature of the reality I created for this story, but the only thing worse than writing about it, is to ignore it's existence and the ripples this stone has cast.
