"Why is it so hard to find shows or books similar to Girlboss? I want one with a female lead as the only main character, figuring her life out and actually making it happen. One that feels real, you know? I like living in the fantasy world as much as the next person but sometimes I read to be motivated. I can't keep watching reruns of Girlboss every time I need to find an answer," Aubrey sighed as her finger trails the bookshelf.
"Maybe you're not manifesting it hard enough," said her friend, Rose.
Aubrey looked over to see her friend's head buried in a book, certain she barely heard a word Aubrey said because that's her go-to response whenever Aubrey's whining.
"Yeah...maybe."
"Or maybe you should write your own." Aubrey didn't recall visiting the bookstore with a third-party. She turned around to see who was eavesdropping on her one-way conversation only to find no one in sight.
"Huh. Weird," she whispered to herself as she exited the store empty-handed once again with Rose quietly trailing behind her.
Aubrey hadn't realized it yet but she should've written her own book.
About how she had everything yet nothing figured out.
How she loved yet hated life.
How she was successful yet a failure in many ways.
How she'd gotten everything she'd ever wanted yet lost everything she'd ever had.
But she still found a reason to live.
To laugh and smile every chance she got.
To appreciate everything.
Aubrey spent years searching for books to inspire her life, yet it never crossed her mind that she was the book herself.
