Marauders

He carved into his bed again. 

They were right, it did have a nice ring to it. 

Two days until the next full moon. Twelve hours until tomorrow's classes. Roughly thirty seconds before James asked him to have another piece of the candy he was eating. 

Sirius popped into his mind again. 

"No", he thought to himself as he continued to fight it. 

Carvings and countdowns used to be the only thing that steadied Remus's mind, why was he struggling now? 

Remus sighed. He hated that vexatious grin of his, yet it kept overriding his thoughts. 

"Is it cool if I have another piece?", James asked just as he had predicted. 

"Yeah", Remus tossed him one. 

He didn't have this feeling with James, or Peter, or anyone else for that matter. Played records, borrowed books, and shared secrets were moments all friends shared, but why did it feel so different with him? 

He turned back over and figured one last carving couldn't hurt. He decided to go back to his old routine of writing his name, maybe the familiarity of it would ground himself again. 

He pulled his hand away abruptly as he noticed he had subconsciously began to write an "S" instead of an "R" 

"Shit", he thought to himself, "This is really getting bad." 

That stupid Sirius Black grin of his.

That was just a little snippet of a future scene I'd thought of, trying to set the tone :) This fic is pretty slow-paced at first, as both are hesitant in their feelings, but I promise it's worth the wait. The story is mostly told in Remus's third person pov, with small bits of Sirius's scattered here and there. I HOPE YOU ALL LIKE IT, feel free to leave comments and feedback, I love reading them <3

Remus was glad he could play the song well enough by now that he didn't have to look down at his hands constantly, but then he made the stupid mistake of looking up at Sirius. He was drenched in sweat and his satin shirt clung to his torso, his dark hair hanging over his face in glistening black waves. Remus felt his breath catch in his throat as Sirius locked eyes with him, making his way over to Remus as he continued to sing, before leaning against the back of the piano to sing to Remus. Remus prayed that the heat of the stage and their performance would suit as a good enough excuse as to why his face was probably flushed red. He didn't think that Sirius Black could look any more gorgeous than he did at that moment, his grey eyes alive with joy, the light catching them as he stared at him, singing in his slightly husky voice, his face shiny with sweat and that damn guitar slung around his shoulder. OR in which the marauders decide to start a band whilst they're at hogwarts :) NOTES -so obviously this is set in the 70s, so i know technically not all the songs in this fic would have been released at the exact time this is set but i just really wanted the marauders to vibe to certain songs so please just accept it ;) and i mean- they're still songs from 70s-80s it's just that some of them came out a little later than when the marauders were in fifth year... -i also know that technically sirius ran away from home in the year this was set but i dont really touch upon it so sorry ab that, and i dont talk about prefect remus either but hey oh well -also the marauders do use the room of requirement in this fic, even tho in canon its likely they never discovered it at their time in hogwarts since it doesn't show up on the marauders map but hey it's a fanfic so don't come at me ty :) started: 12th May 2023 finished:

"Things are really great they way they are at the moment, and I don't want to do anything to mess it up," Severus said slowly. He kept his head steady, eyes fixed out at a star low on the horizon. Severus refused to look at James. He needed to get this off his chest and it would be impossible to do so if that penetrating gaze was fixated on him. He'd only recognised his new feelings for what they were about a week ago; an infatuation. He never considered the possibility that he could be attracted to men, but it seems like James might be the exception. Or maybe, he was the rule. It was still too soon for Severus to tell. "But sometimes, a thing just feels so right, you know?" Severus finished. James didn't say anything. They both just kept looking straight out across the Great Lake. Meanwhile, a new arrival in school has easily made friends with all her fellow Gryffindors... except Marlene: determined to befriend the newbie, Marlene insists on spending more and more time with her. There could be more to all these friendships, but with the stress of NEWTS and a potential war on the horizon, will love blossom, or is it too dangerous to keep loved ones close? I know he went to prison for what he did to James and Lily and Peter, but... Sometimes I don't believe he did it. Remus said that he did. That he was seen killing Peter.
